Xbox One vs PS4: Which Will Be Better?

#15 Let the Battle Begin!

If you're a serious gamer, you were probably just as intrigued by the announcement of both new consoles. First the Playstation 4 specs were released, giving us a new, clear idea of the future ahead of us. Then the Xbox One conveniently rolled out the red carpet a few months later.

They released their statements about these new devices within three months of each other. We can't help but feel that maybe Sony had a leg up on the competition since Playstation made their announcement first. The Xbox One seems more like a desperate attempt at grabbing the attention of consumers who are ready to take on a new system. We don't feel like it expresses any original ideas or features that we cannot live without. Though you can decide, we're giving a point to Playstation just for having the first press conference.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vertigo is a sudden sensation that the world is spinning around you or that you are tilted when you are not. One of the most common disorders that can cause vertigo is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). It most often occurs when you turn your head quickly or move it into certain positions, or when you change body positions, such as lying down, sitting up or standing. Most episodes of vertigo last only a minute or two, but it can recur and it increases the risk for falls.
Specialized Treatment At Horizon physical therapy and rehabilitation, we provide specialized therapy for patients with vertigo or other vestibular (inner ear) disorders, such as dizziness, imbalance, nausea, fatigue, hearing changes, anxiety or difficulty concentrating. This therapy may include Canalith Repositioning, also known as the Epley Maneuver — which repositions the head with timed head maneuvers. Our experienced physical therapists also teach proper exercise techniques that patients can practice at home to maintain optimal health.

Work Injury Rehabilitation

Horizon physical therapy and rehabilitation offers a wide range of specialized programs designed to meet the needs of both recovering workers and their employers. Work injury prevention services include on-site educational seminars and assisting employers with pre-work screening tools. These tools are developed by worldng with the specific functions of a job, thus ensuring that potential employees can safely handle the required physical demands of a given job.
The goal of any work injury rehabilitation program should be to get injured workers healthy and back on the job as quickly and safely as possible. At Horizon, we set specific goals for each injured worker as part of a customized rehabilitation plan. In most cases, early physical therapy intervention allows the recovering worker to be educated regarding the healing and recovery process, provides recovering workers with the appropriate expectations and encourages the desired amount of activity at the proper time during healing. This approach minimizes the frustration, fear, anxiety and depression that can occur following an injury.
In more acute cases, patients may require additional Work Conditioning services. Work conditioning involves physical therapy to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and other functioning, related specifically to the worker's job.
Functional Capacity Evaluation Patient progress is measured through a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE). This is a comprehensive, objective assessment that measures a worker's physical capabilities and tolerances. Our certified functional evaluators administer the FCE with standardized protocols that are specific to each case in question. This information is then used by the employer, physician, and insurance company to help determine whether it is safe for the individual to return to work or if further care is needed. Functional Capacity Evaluations are often used in settling Workers' Compensation Claims and other legal proceedings.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy takes advantage of the physical properties of water, especially buoyancy. Aquatic rehabilitation reduces the amount of stress placed on joints so it is especially well suited for patients who are in pain and are weakend due to an injury or disability. The decreased joint stress enables patients to exercise easier and with less pain.
Benefits of aquatic therapy include a patient's ability to reduce joint and soft-tissue swelling from the natural pressure of water. In addition, water provides enough resistance to strengthen muscles.
We use aquatic therapy including an underwater treadmill, as a part of treatment programs for: • Arthritis • Fibromyalgia • Total hip, knee, or joint replacements • Pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain • Difficulty walking or weight-bearing capacity • Extremity injuries preventing exercise on normal surfaces or in sports • Spinal dysfunction preventing exercise on normal surfaces due to pain, immobility, and compression

Women's Health

It is estimated that possibly 25 million women in the United States struggle with the physical, social, emotional, arid behavioral components of incontinence and pelvic dysfunctions. Despite the alarming number affected, this population is often overlooked, primarily as a result of the sensitivity and social implications of such discussions.
Historically, physical therapists have effectively treated injuries and dysfunctions of various muscles and joints of the body. These same methods can be applied to correct the dysfunctions of the pelvic floor. These dysfunctions and related disorders are multifactoral, often complex, and need a multidisciplinary approach to evaluation, treatment, and management to ensure success.
Physical therapy can often bring about a dramatic improvement with many conditions that affect women in particular, conditions such as: • Urinary and bowel incontinence • Pelvic floor pain and dysfunction • Dizziness (Vertigo) • Lymphedema • Musculoskeletal pain during pregnancy • Post menopausal and menopausal conditions • Osteoporosis • Post-mastectomy/breast reconstruction care .
